Software Updates for the DF-1710

The current software version for the DF-1710 is 4.xx. Due to hard disk repartitioning requirements, upgrading from 3.xx to 4.xx can only be done via CD-ROM, it cannot be done with a downloaded file or through the auto-upgrade menu feature. To order a 4.xx upgrade CD-ROM from Digi-Frame, please click here and fill out the request form. All future software upgrades will be able to be performed through downloads or via the auto-upgrade feature.

Due to hard disk repartitioning the 4.xx upgrade will erase all data on your DF-1710’s hard disk. If you have data on your DF-1710’s hard disk that you want to keep and do not have stored elsewhere you should download it from your DF-1710 via FTP and save it for restoring after the upgrade.

Due to changes in the file path specification format of the DF-1710 scripting language in version 4.xx, scripts written for version 3.x may not work under version 4.xx. Under version 4.xx media files are assumed to reside in the same directory as the script file, which makes path specifications unnecessary if that is the case. Furthermore, script options in 4.xx are no longer "sticky", i.e. they apply only to the script line on which they appear. Global defaults can be set in scripts by using the new "setdefault" directive.

Version 4.xx offers many improvements, enhancements, and bug fixes over version 3.x, and we encourage all users to perform this upgrade. If for some reason you do not want to upgrade to 4.xx, the last release of version 3.xx is version 3.53, which can be performed without erasing the DF-1710’s hard disk by uploading the upgrade file to the DF-1710 via FTP or by putting the upgrade file on a CD-ROM and inserting it in the DF-1710.
